About The Artist
Jody Karkowski was born June 2, 1955, and
raised in
Somerville,
NJ. Educational background includes a B.S.
in Health & Physical Education from Trenton
State College in 1977, and an MBA from
National University in 1984. She enlisted
in the U.S. Navy in 1977, and was
commissioned an Ensign in 1978. One of the
first handful of women allowed to serve on
Navy ships, she worked her way up to
Executive Officer (second in command) of a
20,000 ton Destroyer Tender (repair ship)
with a crew of 1,400 sailors, and completed
“Command at Sea” qualifications. In the
mist of all this she took a basic Stained
Glass class in 1984. Jody retired as a
Commander (0-5) in 1997, and was then free
to pursue her true life’s passion of Stained
Glass full time.
After retiring from the Navy, she was juried
into the
Spanish
Village
Art
Center
in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA, where she had a
Working Artist’s Studio from 1999 to 2002.
During that time she was accepted into juried
shows including: The Art Glass Association of
Southern California’s Annual Show, Small Image
Art Show, and the Del Mar Fair’s Fine Arts
Exhibit. HOME & GARDEN (Cable) TV’s Show “Our
Place” also featured her Lamps and Unique
Water Fountains. She quickly “grew out” of
her Studio in Spanish Village, and a Condo in
Scripps Ranch, and now lives and works on a
beautiful country acre in Guatay, CA; about 45
miles east of downtown San Diego.
On a conscious spiritual journey, and
metaphysical path, she practices Yoga, Qui
Gong, Feng Shui, Intuitive Development,
Meditation, and is a certified “Louise L. Hay,
You Can Heal Your Life” Workshop Leader. She
also hosts monthly “Gatherings” of spiritually
like minded people, and weekly “Intender
Circles.” Her daily Intention is that
everything she says, thinks, does, or allows
into her consciousness at any level is for the
highest and best good of the Universe,
herself, and all beings everywhere.
Jody creatively combines her innate stained
glass talent with her life’s philosophy into a
vehicle that physically, emotionally, and
visually expresses and shares her spiritual
joy and love. She knows your homes and
workplaces are reflections of your spirit, and
revels in the process of helping you to see
and show that spirit in it’s best and most
beautiful light.
Jody works only one special commission at a
time. Her work is very personal, and made
specifically for you. She intends that when
you take home a piece of her Artwork, a part
of her love will always be with you. Now in
the process of manifesting the perfect “Store
Front Complex” which is an “Artist’s and
Healing Center” involving an array of Artist’s
and Natural Healers, she currently works on an
appointment only basis. |
